Round-Corner Tall Cabinet
A very fine round corner cabinet made in the late Ming Dynasty
(1573-1644). It has several distinctive features that make it
special and valuable: the doors are full length instead of ending
above a wide stretcher panel; it is of unique size, proportions
and shape; it retains its original face plates; and most importantly
it still has its original black lacquer finish. As is typical
of round-corner cabinets, the doors are attached to the cabinet
by wooden posts at the top and bottom. The round corners provide
protection for the pivot holes into which theses posts rest.
Also called a "miantiaogui", or noodle cabinet, though
this name bears no meaning to the form or use of the cabinet
and its origin is unknown.

Round-Corner Low Ctbinet
Made in the Late Ming Dynasty (1573-1644) this cabinet is crafted in typical Ming style, and retains all its original metal decoration. The doors are attached to the cabinet by wooden posts at the top and bottom. The round corners provide protection for the pivot holes into which theses posts rest. The legs are angled such that none are parallel with each other, known as "our legs in eight directions". Also called a "miantiaogui", or noodle cabinet, though this name bears no meaning to the form or use of the cabinet and its origin is unknown.
